Description:The 11th Annual Ashburnham-Westminster Community Benefit Hockey Game has been scheduled for Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the Iorio Arena on the campus of Cushing Academy in Ashburnham. This year’s game will benefit the family of Cole and Nick Salmi. The boys and their parents, Von and Bonnie Salmi, reside in Westminster.

The twin brothers were born premature and are currently 14 years old. Cole attends Overlook Middle School. Last August he was diagnosed with Epithelioid Sarcoma in the chest, a rare form of cancer that usually affects the upper extremities. He is currently recovering from a recent surgery and is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He also has been diagnosed with a mild form of cerebral palsy. Cole is a huge Rob Gronkowski fan, he also enjoys video games, four-wheeling, and hanging out with his dad and cousin Cam. Nick attends MSEC in Chelmsford, MA. He was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth; he also has a mild form of autism. Nick enjoys his XBox, Legos and hanging out with his dad. He is also very interested in anything involving the military. The goal of the benefit committee is to raise enough money to offset the cost of Cole’s treatments and the needs associated with Nick’s disability.

In past annual benefit games, the audience has consisted of community members and many families with children. We generate income for the benefit through the sale of game tickets, raffle tickets, cash donations, concessions and a Chinese auction the night of the game. We ask for a donation of a good or service from your business or organization. We also accept cash donations; please make checks payable to “Ashburnham-Westminster Community Benefit Committee (AWCBC)”

Thank you for your consideration and continued community support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dave Napolitano, Bill Troy, David Uminski, or Jason Wetherbee.
